EXTRA FERTILIZER

More For Fodder Crops And Dairying An announcement that additional supplies of fertilizer would be available during the coming season, following joint representations of the New Zealand and Australian Governments, was made yesterday by the Minister of Agriculture, Mr. Roberts. He said that; because of the high priority placed by the United Kingdom authorities on the supply of dairy products it had been decided, on the recommendation l of the National Council of Primary Production, that after providing for various increases in the quantity of fertilizer available for fodder crops, the balance would be made available to the dairy farmers of the Dominion.

“During the present rationing year our manufacturing jirograninie provides for the prodtlclion of some 270,000 tons of superphosphate or its equivalent,” said the Minister. “Next year it is estimated that 400,000 tons will be produced, thus making a very substantial contribution to any programme for increased production. ”
