HAWERA, February 24 This morning conditions were ideal for the tiual gallops of Hawera horses engaged at the Taranaki Joekey Clubs meeting on -Saturday. The outside of the course proper was used for fast work. Miss -Corvette '(Clutterbuck) opened proceedings by sprinting three furlongs in 39. Aiderman (Holland) again impressed, jumping away from -Scdgemere (-Clutterbuck) aud leading him all the way over live furlongs hl 1.44, the last two furlongs in 25. Alderman gained a decided advantage at the start. , , Corday (Clutterbuck) and Cetewayo (Neill), jollied later by Magic Chief (Potroz), jumped away from the seven furlongs to run the first three furlongs together in 40. Corday finished well in front of -Magic Chief and Cetewayo in 1.331, a good effort. . . . . Black Plato (Flower) finished in front of Battledress (Holland) at the completion of five furlongs, covered in 1.6, the last three In 394. ' _ Clarice -(Clutterbuck) galloped five furlongs in 1.4 i. She was picked up at the three furlongs by Ring -Chief (Neill), but finished well in front, covering the last three furlongs in 374. „ . _ Peter's Choice (Holland), with a flying start, registered 514 for four furlongs, the last two in 251. . ,' . . Vermette (Moore) sprinted four furlongs in 51 4-5, and -ChiLworth (Ainslee) again shaded Apocalypse _ (Clutterbuck) at the end of five furlongs in 1.7, the last two .In 26. Etianthus ('Moore) ran the first three of five furlongs smartly in .%4. and slowed up to register 1.6} for the five. Man-power (Hukapaura) showed, a lot of his old pace in a five furlongs gallop, Arrangements have ‘been almost completed for the transport of Hawera h°rses to New Plymouth. Cappy and War Effort are unlikely to make the journey.
