LADY LAKE AT AUCKLAND NAVY LEAGUE

An informal visit of inspection to the work centre of the Auckland branch of the Navy League was made on Tuesday morning by Lady Lake, wife of Commodore St. Atwell Lake, Chief of Naval Staff, Wellington. Lady Lake is president of the Wellington Navy League ladies’ auxiliary. Members of the,' various circles of the league were busily engaged in routine work which comprised the packing of 1760 individual handkerchiefs into, bags for extra' comforts and the making, filling and packing of bags and hussifs. Others were l knitting and sewing. The spinning circle was in active operation, workers being engaged in teasing, carding , and spinning the wool for seaboot stockings. , Lady Lake gave a resume of the work of the Navy League in Wellington and expressed appreciation of the splendid results achieved by the Auckland branch.
