Figures For November
The value represented by building permits issued in the larger centres during November was £906.554, a decrease of £203.493 below the October total, hut an increase of £424,563 compared with November. 1942, states the latest Abstract of Statistics. The high total for October, 1943, was hugely accounted for by the'value of alterations' and additions to existing buildings, which in that month amounted to £431,372, as compared with £146 914 in November. The. value of permits'issued for new buildings in November was £459,640. as compared with £378.675 in October. The number of dwelling permits included in the November figures was odb as compared with 302 in October, and 64 only in November, 1942., Of the 398 dwelling permits for November, 194 a, 28J were in resnect of units commenced by.the Department of Housing Construction, which during the month also commenced operations on 4a new dwellings in othei districts. . . The aggregate value of dwelling permits issued in the larger centres during the eight months ended in Xovmnber _was £4,152.460, an increase of £2,6< -,007 .as compared with a similar period of IJ4Dwelling permits included in the figures for the eight months of 1943 numbered 1733. as compared with 411 in the colrespondins period of 1942.
