Plea For Resumption On Sundays

The suspension of Sunday bus transport as a result of the drivers’ strike was considered at a meeting of residents of the Onslow-Homebush-Cashmere-Khan-dallah district. Mr. F. G. Temm. chairman of the Khundallah State Tenants Association, presided. Mr. D. Lagan was elected acting secretary. Mr. Temm moved the following mo-, tion: “That this meeting of residents ol Khandallah. Onslow, and Homebush districts who are dependent on bus. transport. while not desiring to take sides in the dispute, expresses, concern at the present position regarding the hold up ot Sunday services, desires to direct attention to the lack of transport facilities for persons specially required to work ou Sundays at such operations as wharf and shipping work and to the larger number of people in the district who are totally dependent on Sunday bus transport to attend church, services, and exhorts both parties to the dispute to endeavour to find an early solution whereby the public affected may be relieved of the present serious hardship and inconvenience and may obtain the services it is entitled to, and that this resolution be forwarded to the Minister of Railways and to the secretary of the Bus Drivers Union.” Mr. W. J. Arcus seconded the resolution, which was carried. . On the motion ot Mr. W. F. Smithson, seconded by Mr. P. W. Galvin, the following motion was also earned: Lnat this meeting appoints a committee comprising Messrs. If- G. Temm, P. M. Butler, F. McComish. W. F. Smithson, and E. E. Brown, to keep in touch with the position and to represent the third party, namely, the residents, and travelling nublic and to solicit the offices of the member for the district, Mr. H. E. Combs, with a view to endeavouring to have the bus service restored at the earliest date or to consider further means of overcoming the present apparent deadlock.’
