PROTEST BY WOMEN’S GUILD

Lack Of Help In Hospitals At a recent committee meeting of the Hutt Valley Women’s Citizen.’s Guild, dissatisfateiou was expressed at the lack of help in hospitals both public and private; it has been brought to notice that even a sister-in-charge, with all her responsibilities and training, has to do both washing and cooking, that several private hospitals, unless the position is relieved immediately will have to close down in the near future, and that more than 200 expectant mothers will J>e placed iu a desperate position; these mothers will no doubt be absorbed into the public hospitals, thus throwing more work on a dangerously over-worked staff. i The committee has heard that these facts have been brought to the notice of the manpower authorities but still nothing seems to be done. The committee feels that the health of the. future generation should be of national importance and justify prior claim on manpower.
