GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. And Mrs. George Reid
Telegrams of congratulation and goodwill were received from friends and relations throughout New Zealand by Mr. and Mrs. George Reid on January 22, when they celebrated their golden wedding at their residence, 30 Brougham Street, Wellington. Mr. Reid is the eldest son-of the late Mr. and Mrs.’Andrew Reid, Kaikorai Valley, Dunedin. He iftid bis parents arrived at Dunedin in 1872 by the ship City of Dunedin. Later he came to Wellington, where he met his wife, then Miss Ada Watson, younger daughter of the late Charles and Susan Watson, and grand-daughter of the late Captain John and Mrs. Guard, Knkapu Bay, Port Underwood. Mr. and Mrs. Reid were married in Wellington by the Rev. Samuel Barnett, Mr. Andrew Reid and Mrs. A. Cording, who were attendants at the wedding ceremony 50 years ago, again sat at the place of honour beside the bride and bridegroom at the anniversary celebrations. Members of the family who were also present to celebrate the occasion were Mr. H. Reid, Mrs. L. Notley, Mrs. W. C. Hanson and two of their grandchildren, Ngaire and Fay Hanson. One daughter, Mrs, Saint, now lives in Canada. Among the guests were Mr. and Mrs. H. Reid, Dunedin, Mr. and Mrs. W. Wheeler, Mr. and Mrs. D. Scott, Mrs.: Walters, Mrs. Newton and Mrs. Hanson, sen.
