“Pravda” And Peace Talk
Rumours LONDON, January 19. A German Foreign Office spokesman, commenting on the “Pravda” report about the meeting between Herr von Ribbentrop and British citizens, said : ’ Official German circles have only a superior smile for this type of news. It is evidently meant as a reprisal for the BritishAmerican interference in the Polish problem, which Stalin wishes to solve singlehanded.” . Vichy radio says authoritative sources in Spain deny that Ribbentrop has recently been there. Reuter’s Moscow correspondent say® the Foreign Office denial of the "Pravda’ story was published in the same form and place in “Pravjhi” as the original message from Cairo. The denial was also published in the other principal newspapers, including the “Izvestia” and “Red Star.” „ ~ , The N.B.C. reporter at Stockholm says that Stockholm newspapers today published a story that Hitler hud dispatched semi-official representatives to Ankara to discuss separate peace terms with Russia. The story was credited to the Geneva newspaper “La Suisse.”
