The Deputy .Prime Alinister Mr. Nash, has been informed by. the New Zealand High Commissioner in London that Dr. Erik Orutn Pedersen, deceased, ship’s surgeon on th’e "California Star, has been commended for services when his ship was attacked by the enemy. Notice of the commendation was gazetted in London this week. Dr. Peterson was born in New Zealand. There has also appeared in the London Gazette notice of commendation of AValter Joseph Trischler. carpenter. AVellington, for brave conduct when helping to rescue men overcome by fumes on the S S. Akaroa in Wellington harbour.
