Lyceum Club Penwomen The lounge of the Lyceum Club, Wellington, attractively decorated with roses and arum lilies, was the scene recently of an enjoyable afternoon. It was the final meeting for the year of the penwomen’s circle of the club, when members’ original work in story and song was presented. This was followed by a description of the Pans Opera House by the leader of the circle, Mrs. L. M. bam pie, and an article Nvritten by Mrs. J. NV. Chapman Taylor, ’The Story, of Orakei,” which was read- by Mr. H. F. von Haast, who also placed Schumann piano compositions. Miss lanny Richardson recited two poems of her own composition. Soloists for the afternoon were Mrs. Rovston Clark. Mrs. K. Conner and Mrs. David Herbert. Songs -by these contributors to the programme comprised verse and niusic composed by Rosa Knight, Eva Sample and NVanda Herbert, members of the circle. Mrs. Bernard NVebb and Mr. H. F. von Haast acted as accompanists. Afternoon tea was served.
