Gift Of Reading Matter For Troops N Z E.F. Officiai News Service. CAIRO, November 3. In a practical demonstration of international goodwill and co-operation, the American Red Cross has made available a substantial consignment of books and periodicals as a gift to the Now Zealand Y.M.C.A. for Middle East libraries and mobile canteens. Mr. Glen A. Whisler on behalf of the director, Mr. Ralph Bains, said, “We arc glad to be able to share this reading matter with you and we know that New Zealand troops will enjoy it.” The consignment included 2300 “Readers’ Digest's,” 1700 Penguin books, 1200 magazines and an assortment of other periodicals. This is not the first time the American Red Cross has so generously supplied reading mutter in such quantity. A few- months ago, the New Zealand Red Cross received . thousands of books, magazines and general reading material, which has long since been distributed to the troops.
