American Red Cross In Auckland

Extensive renovations have been m Progress at the American lied Cross Club, Auckland, and the rooms are to be reopened next Saturday. . By the use of glass bricks, the entrance aisle, which has been widened, will have not only its own lights, but will derive further illumination from tne neon-lighted adjoining rooms and reception hall. Off the spacious reception hall are a cloak and parcel-room, a lounge and roster-room for voluntary workers, a games-rooin aud an office for the programme director. The walls aud ceilings of the old lounge and dining-room Jiavc been recoustructed and indirect lighting has been installed. In addition there is n smaller lounge, with a quiet section for those who wish to read or write. A public address.system is being installed for the “paging of people called by telephone aud to amplify recorded music. A more commodious kitchen is being fitted M’ltli additional equipment.

School Birthday Invitation. Old pupils of St. Mark’s Church School are specially invited to the school birthday party, which will be held tomorrow. A short programme, beginning at o’clock, will precede tbc cutting ot a birthday cake and tea at the school during the afternoon, and further entertainments, cake and supper will be provided at the evening session. Concert For Patriotic Activities. Pioneer Club members and triends arc reminded that a well-selected musical programme will be given in aid ot the club s patriotic efforts next Saturday, commencimr at 8 P-m. Items by the Misses Henry's student orchestra will be featured, as well as vocal numbers arranged by Lieut. H. E. Bruscy.
