Wedding At Lower Hutt An evening wedding was- c^' b J at ® d at St James’s Church. The bride, wno was escorted oj ntr father, wore a gown of white satin, made with a heart-shaped neckline, long sleeves peaked at the wrist, and very tut gored skirt with a long square train, lie corsage was high in the front, the lowcut' back being finished with buttons and double loops. Attending the bride were Miss Colleen Svenson, chief bridesmaid, and her sisters, Misses Lois and Dawn Currie, and M ! ss Mavis Jones, who were frocked alike in powder blue taffetas. Their were slightly trained and high-waisted, with short puff sleeves and heart-shaped necklines edged with pink net, which buttoned to the low waistlines at tue back. Blue taffetas halos were wo a with pink velvet bows at the back, and embroidered with pink net, and they carried posies of pink hothouse flowers and maidenhair fern. The small flowergirl, Margaret Clark, Upper Hutt, was similarly frocked, and the page-boy, David Scarlett, wore a marine suit. The best man was Sergeant J. Kishtow, U.S.M.C.. the groomsmen being Sergeants Louis M ar .? uet f te - o’ and R. B. Cram, all of the U.S.M.G. A guard of honour, composed of members of the bridegroom’s battalion, greeted the bridal couple at the church. The double-ringed ceremony followed an American custom, in which the bride first placed a circlet on the bridegroom s ring finger, and the bridegroom then placed the ring on the brides finger A reception, at which more than 80 o uest3 were received by the bride's parents, was held at St. James’s Hall. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Sylvester, Wellington, great-aunt and uncle of the bride, represented the bridegroom’s parents.. Mrs. Currie received the guests wearing a slightly trained fitting ensemble of black moire and smart black summer felt hat scalloped at the edge, and with a funnel-shaped crown, and she wore a fragrant shoulder spray. The bride travelled in a black tailored coat over a dove grey frock finished with black patent leather flowers, a black summer felt picture hat, and black accessories.
