GOVERNOR-GENERAL’S SAMOAN VISIT
(Received September 28, 9 p.m.) APIA, September 27. . The visit of the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, to Samoa two weeks ago was greatly appreciated and enjoyed by the Samoans and Europeans. Short notice of the visit only was possible. This curtailed the preparations of welcome. The Samoans received his Excellency at Mulinuu with a king’s kava ceremony and at Talolo when a large gathering assembled. Visits were paid to the south coast at Upolu and Savaii, where the natives excelled themselves in n loyal welcome Io the Government and the mission schools and also the hospital wore visited. A bull given by the Sciaute Club (Samoan) on the eve of his Excellency’s departure was largely attended.
