VALUE OF SARDINIA

LONDON, September 19.

'The Algiers correspondent of thu British United Press says that the possession of Sardinia, which is now in Italian bands, presents the Allies with an unsinkable aircraft-carrier within easy flying distance of the whole Axis-occupied coast from Salerno northward to the Gulf of Genoa and then westward across the Riviera to the Spanish border. It also brings the Allies 300 miles nearer France and provides a base for attack against Corsica.
