By defeating the Chicago Cubs by two runs to one, St. Lottis Cardinals clinched their hold on the National Baseball League championship for the second year in succession, thereby qualifying to participate in this year’s “M’orltl Series” play-off for the world championship title against, the winners of the American League. Last year in the world series the' Cardinals beat the New York Yankees, who appear likely to meet them again this year,
