The flames x' ere beginning to eat into the main building when the brigade arrived, and. using two leads ot hose, quickly got the blaze under control. Extensive damage -was done to the leanto and its contents. . At 10.30 on Saturday night the brigade was 'called to the Army Stores, Cable Street, where a fire in a box of rubbish was quickly put out with bucket pumps. A similar fire in Martin’s Buildings, Co'iJ’tenay 'Place, an hour later, was dealt’with in the same way. Between these two the brigade dealt with a mattress on fire at 41 Cambridge Terrace.
