WEST COAST RIVERS IN HIGH FLOOD

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WESTPORT. September 19. The Buller and Orawaiti Rivers have been in high flood ns the result of heavy rain and it was thought at one stage that there might be flooding ot the town, but nothing of the kind has happened and it is believed the worst of the storm is over. The railear did not arrive from Greymouth today because of a washout near Ikamatua and a subsidence at Bahai, but it is hoped to repair the latter and to have the trains tomorrow connecting on the other side of the Akamatua washout. Shipping is at a standstill pending a reduction of the flood in the Buller River. A number of vessels are loaded ready to sail as soon as the weather moderates.
