YOUNG PEOPLE’S CLUB
Inaugural Meeting
The inaugural meting of. the Wellington Young People’s Club was held at the, Blind Institute Hall last Friday. Mrs,; R. Sleek was in the chair. Mr. P-, Smithells, of the Education (Department, i gave an address, pointing out the possi-, bilities of the club, as .youth seemed di-' vided by unnecessary political and religious schisms. . ■ This club, similar to organizations already flourishing in Auckland, Christchurch and Palmerston North, is both religiously and politically undenominational. Its aims are to educate youths opinions on matters concerning youth by discussion, and the provision of social and educational facilities. Games, dances, lectures, debates, swimming, cycling and' .play-reading will be included in the club’s .activities. The following officers were elected: —• President. Miss S. Fenton; vice-president, Mr. 11. Perfect; treasurer, Mr. Lloyd Morgan; secretary, Miss B. (Ritchie. Four sub-committees have been appointed,
