Satisfaction with the slightly increased net profit, attained after four years of war and with apparel rationing in operation for over a year, was expressed by Mr. J. S. Milne, chairman of directors, at the annual meeting of Milne and Choyce. Ltd., Auckland. Mr. Milne pointed out that the firm employed a staff of 600 with a wage bill exceeding £120,000 per annum, while purchases in the Dominion only for the last year exceeded £350,000. For 2G years profits had been shared with employees, and during that period the total distributed was nearly £70,000. The company was in a sound position, with liquid assets showing a surplus of £61,307 over current liabilities and 55 per cent, of the latter was represented by reserves for taxes.
