Effect On The Rolls Commenting yesterday on the position which is likely to arise from the raising of the school- leaving age from 14 years to 15 years, the director of M ellingtoii Technical College, Mr. R. G. Ridlmg, said that SO far as that college was eoncerneu it was thought that it might mean tn increase in the day toll of 300 to 400, bringing it to about HOO. There woulu, of course, be little oi’ uo effect oil the night attendances. . . “No school, in my opinion, will be able easily to provide the extra accommodation necessary,” said Mr. Ridlmg, aud that aspect of the matter is being investigated by the Education Department, as well as the provision of the necessary extra staff. , - “We shall not feel the toree of the new arrangement till 1944, so that there is a fair amount of time tor the preparations to be made.”
