DANGEROUS CORNER

Fourteen Accidents In Past Year

At Paremata

A dangerous corner on the main highway nt Paremata, about 200 yards from his residence, was referred to by Cr. F. Bradey, at tlie meeting of tlie Hutt County Council yesterday. He said that bad visibility and the narrowness of the road had been responsible for no fewer than 14 accidents there during the past year. The climax came about three weeks ago when two service vehicles, one loaded with troops, had collided, with the results that one mail was killed, and about eight suffered broken arms and legs and other serious injuries. The danger could lie lessened by cutting off a portion of .the curve to give better visibility and a wider road. The chairman of the council, Cr. R. L. Button, said he would consult the engineers of the Main Highways Board with a view to having the corner made safer.
