Though he was too weak to give a coherent account, Mr. William Collon, an American seaman who was rescued after 76 days in an open lifeboat, said his ship was torpedoed off West Africa. The life; boat originally carried 20. of whom 15 died before the rescue. Four more died on board the ship which took Collon to Trinidad.
