Americans’ Alternatives (Received February 3, 8.15/p.m.; WASHINGTON, February 2. Thousands of married men with children employed in non-essential occupations have been warned to find war jobs within 60 days or prepare for induction into the armed forces. This step, says the Associated Press of America, marks the abandonment of non-eompulsory attempts to find a solution to the war industries’ growing manpower difficulties. It also brings nearer the drafting of married men with dependents into the armed forces.

Tlie occupations from which men are ordered to move include barmen, florists and newsboys. The Manpower Commissioner, Mr. McNutt, stated that, new categories would be included as the labour demand increased He added that 10 out of every 14 able-bodied men between 18 and 38 would be in the services by the end of the year.
