Au offer of books from Invercargill for lhe Churchill auction, to be conducted in Wellington, shows that this Patriotic effort is arousing interest among many who are no longer resident in M elliugton. A letter from Mr. E. B. Pilcher, Invercaigill, states: “Fortunately I hold the books from the collection of the late L<ln aid , Catchpool, who arrived iu ” eU,n “ t< ?" : with his uncle, Mr. E. Betts Hopper, 1 I the year 1840. My late fathers mother was E. Catchpool’s sister, so you wit realize mv close connexion with the eai y ' pioneers at Wellington, and therefore my i doubts at parting with old relics. Due to my being an old Wellingtonian. as was also my late father, Mr. 11. J. I ilcher, 1 I prefer sending the books direct to the National Patriotic Fund Board, with the hopes that they will return a very satisfactory figure.” Gifts of books, pictures, and antiques are still being received oy the honorary Dominion organizer, Mr. Pat.
