More Junior Assistants A new award made by the Court of Arbitration for retail grocers’ assistants mid drivers in the northern (except Gisborne) industrial district brings conditions of employment in Auckland subsi antially into tine with the terms of the Dominion award (excepting Taranaki and Auckland) issued in January. Youths starting under 16 years of age, who formerly received 18/6, are to receive £1 in their first half-year, with halfyearly and yearly increments, till the maximum of £5/5/- is reached in the sixth year of service or at the age of 21, instead of in the eighth year or at the age of 23, as in the previous award, lhe maximum rate, £.7/5/-, is 2/6 higher.
