Auckland Trades Council <By Telegraph—Press Association.' AUCKLAND, April 17. In a closely-contested ballot Mi’. F. Craig, national secretary of the New Zealand Timber Workers’ Union and secretary of the Auckland branch, defeated Mr. F. G, Young, M.L.C., for Hie presidency of Hie Auckland Trades Council of Hie Federation of Labour at tlie annual meeting of the eouneil last night. Mr. Young had been president of the council since its inception live years ago. Mr. Craig lias been a delegate of Hie Timber Workers’ Union on the council since its inception, and was vice-president last year. The new vice-president is Mr. Roy Stanley, national secretary of Hie Carpenters’ Union, who. in allot lie- close contest, was defeated by Mr Young for Hie position of national cout.cillot on tlie Federation of Labour The other nominee for Hie vice-presidency* was Mr. I*’. Hackett, secretary of the Auckland Tramway Union and national prsident of Hie tramwuyiiieii’s organization.
