Wellington Suggestions
The meeting of the Wellington Returned Services Association called for last night to consider remits for the annual Dominion conference in June lapsed for want of a quorum, the night proving inconvenient for the large number of members who have Emergency Precautions Service and Home Guard duties. Those who were present held an informal meeting and decided to send to the executive the following remits with a recommendation that the executive consider sending them on to the conference: — "That the president of the N.Z.R.S.A. should not hold office for more than three years consecutively.” "That representations be made to the proper authorities in order that legislation be passed to disfranchise conscientious objectors for 10 years.” "That the Rating Act, 192 u, should be amended in order to provide that any lands and buildings used for the purpose of ILS.A. premises would be deemed to be lion-rateable property, and tiiat proper steps be taken to effecuate such legislation.” . rz "That Army rates of pay in New Zealand be brought into line, rank for rank, with Air Force rales of pay in New Zealand.” "That the sustenance allowances- payable to the Army in New Zealand (2/6 a day) be increased to £l/10/- a week.
