Australian Manpower Registration EMPLOYMENT METHOD MELBOURNE, January 19. x Immediate action to compile and maintain a decentralized national service register is to be taken as the result of a decision by the War Cabinet today. The Prime Minister, Mr. Curtin, said that as the register taken in 1939 did not fulfil present requirements, active co-operation of all State Government resources was sought to compile up-to-date data on manpower resources, showing the manpower available iu each military district for thy armed forces and for industry. National service certificates will tie issued Indicating the nature of the work performed. Natioual service offices are to be established to administer the reserved occupations list and to determine exemptions from military service' while ensuring that military establishments receive tbeir full complement of manpower. The national service offices wit! also be the sole channel of engagement of labour by all employers, Government and private. The Minister of Labour is empowered to protect vital industries and conserve individuals whose qualifications should not be lost to industi}. No person in a protected undertaking shall, without permission, change his employment. .
