Belfast Exhibition MESSAGES FROM EDEN AND MAISKY (British Official Wireless.! (Received December 2, 7.10 p.m.) RUGBY, December 1. An exhibition of photographs from Russian war zones, organized by the Ministry of Information in collaboration with the. Soviet Embassy in London, wits opened by the Prime Minister of Northern Ireland, Mr. Andrew, in Belfast today. ■ The Foreign Secretary, Mr. Eden, sent the following message:—“The Government and people of this country aie making every effort in their power to aid our ally in the bitter struggle against the common enemy. But apart from all material help that we may send her there is another duty incumbent upon us all—to do our liest to know and understand our ally bettel. “There can ibe no better basis for such understanding than knowledge of the daily life of the peoples of the Soviet Union and I have no doubt that this exhibition will do much to till this need. I wish the exhibition every success and I am sure it will play a great part in bringing about that better understanding of the Soviet Union which is not only so important during the war, but which will also be essential when we and our Allies turn to the tasks of making peace.” The 'Soviet Ambassador, M. Maisky, sent the following message:—“l am happy to express deep appreciation to all those taking part in the Northern Ireland campaign to increase arms production for supplies to my country. The joint struggle we are waging against Hitlerite Germany is.a hard and .bitter one, and unremitting effort is demanded so that this Nazi war machine shall be finally and completely smashed. "This will be achieved all the sooner and With less sacrifice if workers on the production front play their part bv providing the arms needed on the fighting front. These arms are needed speedily and in vast quantities. They are a direct contribution to our joint victory over the common enemy. . I hope, therefore, that the campaign will meet with all success.”
