ST. JAMES THEATRE
Retaining Dorothy Lamour as the feminine interest, hut enlisting a corps of comedians not in his recent pictures. Bob Hope continues to provide plenty of laughs in "Caught in the Draft.” now in its second week at St. James’ Theatre. The film is a comedy on army life. Bob Hope, conscripted as a result of a practical joke which backfired, attracts all the trouble imaginable, and bis ennstie comments on the life of a raw recruit provide much of the humour. His chief worry is (hat he is in love with the colonel’s daughter (Dorothy Lamour). who brands him a coward. His efforts to prove her wrong and to fulfil the colonel's stipulation that Bob must reach at least the rank of corporal before he will consider him as a son-in-law Bob nnd his rookie comrades in one tight spot after another.
Dorothy Lainonr’s role does not call for the singing of a theme song, hut it does call for 22 changes of costume! Lynne Overman and Eddie Bracken amusing as “rookies” and Clarence Kolb is excellent ns tlie irritated colonel, finally compelled to acknowledge the "bravery” of Hope and his two comrades.
