Found Cranking Engine While Intoxicated Charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a truck in Thorndon Quay, which he admitted, Natha Dahya, fruiterer, aged 40, was fined £2O by Mr. Luxford, S.M., in the Magistrates’ Court, Wellington, yesterday and his driving licence was cancelled for 12 months. Sub-Inspector G. H. Lambert said a constable saw accused’s truck outside a public house ou Thursday morning, and three hours later noticed it was still there. He found accused in the hotel under the influence of liquor and warned him not to drive. Soon afterward, however, the constable found him attempting to crank the engine of the truck. He was taken to a police station and a doctor who was called reported that he was intoxicated. He had not been before the Court previously.
