RICCARTON WORK

Palfrey Impresses Over Six Furlongs Dominion Special Service. CHRISTCHURCH, October 2. Conditions were very favourable for fast work at Riccarton today, and most of the horses to race at the Dunedin meeting were galloped on the No. 6 grass track, which provided fast going. The plough was also in use for the first time, and a few horses were given easy work on it. Recently a large amount of sawdust from the military camp on the course has been spread on top of the plough, and this is being supplemented by supplies from other sources.
