12,500 Men Entertained During Year ••Approximately 12,500 men have been entertained during the year■ fiee of charge, and it. is a record ot which the club cau justly proud, stated the annual report of. the Spinsters Club, Wellington, presented at the second annual meeting last night. All that was possible to make men on leave feel welcome bad been done by the members, it went on. The past year had been a momentous one lor the The report mentioned the hard work done by members toward raising iiOO for their princess in the recent victory Oueen Carnival in Wellington. In this they were helped by some members ot the Cinderella Club. The club was associated with the U.S.A, in the carnival and the report pointed out hat when the U.S.A, was formed in 1916, the original. Spinsters’ Club provided the concert for the opening of the U.S.A, club in that year, and always worked in close harmony with the association. The report gave a resume or the club’s change-over to newer and larger premises during the year and the help given by ‘members and friends, who made up working bees and donated materials for the refurnishing. Special Christmas and Master parties were held for the men. The thanks of the club were extended to the many performers who gave short, entertainments during the year, to friends for continued help and to those men of t.he services • whose willing assistance was always welcomed. Membership of the club stood at 60, this being the total number required, and there was a. waiting list. Tribute to the memory of a popular member, Miss B. Courts Moon, who died during the year, was contained in the report. The following officers were elected: President, Mrs. L. M. Hyams; vicepresidents, Mesda-mes V. Gray, A. D. Bayfield, E. Akroyd. Steele. Misses Eva Moore, D. Isaacs, and Beresford; honorary secretary, .Miss P. Hyams; honorary treasurer, Mrs. E. Evan Young; committee, Misses Lorna A.kroyd (chairman), Joan Bayfeild, Molly Withers, Nell Recktiell. Margaret Elleray. Olga Juriss.
