PETROL RESELLERS

Extra Return Suggested To Cover Special Work

A suggestion that the Government should grant to petrol resellers an extra Jd. a gallon to cover the assistance they are giving for essential war purposes was contained in a question to the Minister of Supply, Mr. Sullivan, of which Mr. Endean (Opposition, Remuera) gave notice. Mr. Endean asked whether, in view of the fact that the Government had increased the wholesale price of petrol by Id. a gallon, Id. to cover increased costs of importing companies and id. for protective works necessary because of the war, and the fact that oil companies had been granted id. profit to carry out special work on account of the war, the Government would make a similar grant to resellers.
