NETHERLAND’S NAVY
Separate Department
Created
(British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, July 28.
In view of the great importance now attached to the Netherlands navy, a separate Navy Department has been created. The department will func-
tion under Vice-Admiral Furstner. The Netherlands Government intimated that “the entire conduct of the affairs and the method of working are, and will continue to be, directed to participate most energetically with our Allies and the United States in the prosecution of the war, the regaining of their complete independence, with some precautionary moves in solution of the problems which will occur afterward.” The Government also affirmed its intention to place its services at the disposal of the Queen upon her return to the Netherlands. The Government unconditionally determined that “no parley whatsoever with the Nazi regime will be entertained. Neither discussions nor negotiations with Hitler and his conspirators, will be entered upon. Every effort which the Netherlands is capable of making will be made in order to assist in the liquidation of presentday Nazi Germany.”
Apart from the change in the personnel of the Defence Department, the Netherlands Government in London, which lias been appointed by Queen ’Wilhelmina, remains unaltered,.
