80 League Members Attend Birthday • Party Another step in the progress of the New Zealand League for the Hard of Hearing was marked last night, when 80 members of the Wellington branch gathered to celebrate the sixth birthday of the branch. Guests were welcomed in the entrance hall of the Eng-lish-Speaking Union rooms by Mrs. Nicholson, honorary secretary, and Miss M. Eggleton, organizing teacher. Mr. S. Mansfield, chairman of the social committee, presided.
A group of competitions had been planned stf that those present had the opportunity of mingling informally. In the” shipwreck competition prizes were awarded to those who achieved the best results from dressing up in the old clothes provided. During a comedy number the nortable group-hearing aid was used, enabling all to enjoy the item. At the conclusion of the programme a home-made supper was served.
