SCHOOL CERTIFICATE
Rejected By Accountants As Qualification The council of the New Zealand Society of Accountants has adopted a recommendation of its education committee that the school certificate examination should not be accepted its an entrance examination for admission to membership of the society. The report on this question bad the following conclusion :— “As the result of a carefully-considered educational policy developed over many years bv progressive steps, we have found it desirable to adopt the University Entrance Examination, and to establish a close relationship with the university, thereby achieving a great deal, toward placing our profession on a par with other professions. A change such as that suggested would in many respects seriously disrupt and dislocate the policy we have so painstakingly built up. There would have to lie the most conclusive and unanswerable reasons for making so drastic a change. The education committee reached the unanimous conclusion that no such case had been established.”
