DORNE CUP RACE

Scottish Retain Harrier Trophy Some 130 harriers faced the starter for the annual Dome Cup race of five miles, a cross-country harrier event which started and finished on Hutt Park on Saturday. The Scottish Club retained the trophy, this being their eleventh successive win. The clubs competed on a points basis, the first .10 men of each club to finish counting for places. At the three-quarter mark first, wau off the course was Owens, closely followed by Congalton, Patterson, Kennedy, Bourgeois and Dicky. Bourgeois had a commanding lead over Parkin, of ’Wellington, in the second lap; then came Patterson ' (Methodist), O'Flynn (University), and Bartlett (Scottish!. The last-named was first home, followed by Parkin One hundred and eighteen finished the course. Following are the team placings:— Scottish, 134, 1; University, 227, 2; Brooklyn, 379, 3. Wellington scored 425, Hutt. 495. Methodist 596, Presibyteriau 660, and Baptist 853. The winning pack comprised : T. Bartlett, A. Bourgeois, It. Ballantyne, A. Stevens. C. Bruce. J. Itiddington, Busby, Cowan, F. Silver, and Cox. In the following placings (S) signifies Scottish, (W) Wellington, (U) University, (M) Methodist, and (B) Brooklyn: Bartlett (S), 29min. 57sec.; Parkin (W), 29.58; Bourgeois (S), 30.6; O Conner (V), 30.214; Patterson (M). 30.25, O’Flynn (V), 30.29; Bruce (Si. 30.30; Owen (W), 30.37; Ballantyne (S), 30.42; Daniell (V), 30.48. Mr. Gough, president of the Hutt Valley Club, which controlled the race, presented the cup to the president of the Scottish Club. Mr. Ballantyne.' DUNEDIN STEEPLECHASE (By Telegraph—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, June 22. The Edmund Cup Steeplechase, a local harrier classic of three miles, was won by 11. Nelson, aged IS. VV. Burrows wats second and A. K. Geddes third. Considering the heavy state of the course, Nelson’s time of 17.10 2-5, was very creditable.
