FORCES’ HOSPITALITY CLUB AT Y.W.C.A.
The Wellington Y.W.C.A. was the scene of much festivity on Saturday night, when members of the Y.W.C.A. Forces Hospitality Club, with “Ou men of the forces, celebrated tbe first anniversary of the inception of this form of wartime service by the Y.W.C.A. Mrs. Gardner, who bad been present all through the year as hostess, made a short speech expressing the satisfaction of tlx; board of directors at the splendid way in which this work
had been carried out by the girls of the Y.F.H., as well as by many other societies and individuals, who had assisted with donations and catering. Miss Nan Darby expressed the thanks of the girls to Mesdames R. Gardner, J. S. Martin, Mcinnes, Robson and R. A. Martin, and to Miss Rennie for their faithful support all through the year, and presented them with charming sprays. Messrs. Hobson and Martin and members of the orchestra were recipients of cigarettes and buttonholes, as tokens of appreciation. A member of the air force thanked the girls on behalf of the boys. Cheers and musical honours were given. A decorated birthday cake was a feature of a delicious supper. On Sunday evening the Rev. J. Churchill conducted a short service before tea was served, and later a programme of music was provided by the Wellington Working Men’s Club.
