An Active Sub-Centre At recent meetings of the committee of the Brooklyn sub-centre of the Women’s War Service Auxiliary, a survey of the activities already engaged in by the members was given. The membership of classes for first aid and home nursing was about 60. The first aid course had been completed, and members were now doing the home nursing class. Military drill and physical fitness classes were held each Monday night, and on alternate Monday nights signalling classes were held. The membership of these classes totalled about 30. An endeavour was also being made to form a cooking class and a kinship club. It was also decided to approach the local wardens of the E.P.S. with a view to further co-operation between the two bodies. The committee expressed its appreciation of the enthusiastic and willing cooperation of •'ill the members.

Labour Party Dance. Approximately 100 couples attended a dance held in the clubrooms of the Hutt Valley Returned Soldiers’ Association in Lower Hutt on Saturday night, under the auspices of the EpuuiWaiwetu Labour Party. The committee intends holding these dances periodically, and men of the forces and their partners will be admitted free. Mr. Spender-Campbell played extras, and the programme comprised both modern and old-time dances, and also monte carlo dances. The committee comprised Mr. D. Gamble, chairman; Mr. P. R. Ulemas, secretary; Mr. and Mrs. P. Dowse, Mr. and Mrs. H. Saunders, Mr. and Mrs. E. Hanson and Mr. and Mrs. H. Burrell; Miss June Clamp and Mr. W. Clamp.

Golf Club Annual Dance. The annual dance of the .Boulcott Golf Club, for which Mr. G. Persson acted as master of ceremonies, was held in Lower Hutt on Saturday night. There was a large attendance of members -and friends, also of members of the forces. The club colours, green and gold, were used with charming effect on the supper tables. The social committee included Mrs. M. Slade, secretary; Mr. J. Gardiner, secretary and treasurer; Misses Betty Snow, V. Hardy and Mrs. V. Mumford; Messrs. R. Swain and W. D. Kyte.
