STUDENT OF BURNS
Tribute To Late Mr. R. Hogg
A tribute to the memory of the late Air. Robert Hogg was paid by the president of the Wellington Burns Club, Mr. R. H. Nimmo, at a recent meeting of the club.. Air. Hogg, said Air. Nimmo, could be ranked with men like the Hou. James Craigie and Air. D. AlcLaren. An exmember of the Wellington Burns Club, Mr. Hogg had devoted a lifetime study to the works of Robert Burns, Scotland’s national bard. He would long be remembered by New Zealand Scots for the inspiring and profound knowledge of Burns’ works, and his many lectures revealed leanings toward “the Ettrick Shepherd,” for not only was he an ardent admirer of Burns, but was himself actually a direct’descendantAir. Nimmo said that iu his opinion probably no other New Zealander possessed a wider knowledge of Scottish literature than the late Air. Hogg, who had been the owner of the most complete Scottish library in the Dominion. At the conclusion of the meeting, members stood in silent respect to Air. Hogg’s memory, and in sympathy with his wife in her loss.
