Final Carnival Event In Lower Hutt
' A happy finale to the months of intensive social activity in connexion with the Victory Queen Carnival took place in Lower Hutt last night, when a Victory Queen ball was held in the Horticultural Hall. Red, white and blue bunting and flags were used in decoration, with autumn-tinted flowers and foliage. A true carnival touch was provided by hundreds of lets, made by a bevy of girls under the supervision of Mrs. Seddon Hills, which were bought ami donned by the dancers. The financial side was furthered by the sale of ice-creams and soft drinks. The programme, under the direction of Miss Eva Draper, included ballets, arranged by Miss Vivienne Platt. Mr. C. Strong was the master of ceremonies and Leu Forresters’ Orchestra gave their services. The Hutt Valley Queen, Mrs. E. T. W Love, and her princesses, were presented with leis in the Hutt Valley Queen Carnival colours, gold and green. The oflieial party comprised the mayoress of Lower Hutt, Mrs. J. W. Andrews, and Lady Roberts, who were the hostesses, also Mr. Andrews, Mr. \V. Nash and .Mrs. Nash. Sir Charles and Lady Norwood, Captain and Mrs. W. Muse, .Mr. and Mrs. 11. J. August, Mr. and Mrs. F. Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. J. Fletcher. Mr. and Mrs. AnnandSmith, Mr. and .Mrs. Seddon Hills, .Mr. and Mrs. M. Uptou. Miss Eva Draper and Mr. G. Persson, and Mesdames Hayman and G. Barry, representing the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
