OBITUARY

Mr. Noel J. Windsor

The death occurred in Wellington on Sunday of Mr. Noel John Windsor, aged 32 years. He was the only son of Mr. J. W. Windsor, well known in Wellington sporting circles, and Mrs. Windsor. He had been a prefect at Wellington College, and a member of the first football fifteen and cricket eleven. Mr. Windsor was a Wellington fourth grade Rugby representative, and played in the Poneke Football Club’s lower grades. He was also a leading batsman in James Smith’s Cricket Club. During the four years he was secretary of the Poneke Football Club his capacity as an organizer was responsible for the club building up to its greatest numerical strength. Mr. Windsor was employed in the wool industry. In 193 S he made an extended business trip to Great Britain, the Continent, and the United States 6f America.

Mr. C. M. Louis

The death has occurred in Hastings of Mr. Charles Murta Louis, at the age of 45, states a Dominion Special Service message from Hastings. A son of the late Mr, James Louis, he was born and educated in Wellington. He served in many New Zealand towns on the staff of Smith and Smith, Ltd., and was employed for some years with their Hastings branch. He served In the last war.

Mr. Louis is survived by his mother, who resides in Wellington and four brothers and two sisters. The sisters are Miss V. D. Louis, Wellington, and Mrs. Botts, Nelson, and the brothers, Messrs. J. V. Louis, Dannevirke, C. R. Louis, Wellington, W. L. Louis, Nelson, and A. Louis, who is with the New Zealand forces in the Middle East. Mr. S. G. August The death occurred suddenly yesterday morning, says an Invercargill Press Association message, of Mr. Samuel Gottlieb August, at the age of 60. For many years he had been a well-known figure in the literary life of the community, specially in his work for the W.E.A. He was organizer of the movement in Invercargill for 28 years.

Mrs. C. J. Somerville A well-known Hawke's Bay resident, Mrs. Christina Jane Somerville, has died in Hastings, aged 79 years, states a Dominion Special Service message. ■Born in Wellington in 1861, she came to Hawke’s Bay with her parents when eight years old and resided in the district ever since, being married at Taradale to. Mr. John Kitchen Somerville who predeceased her. Mrs. Somerville was a keen member of the Haumoana Women’s Institute and an untiring patriotic worker, both during the last and the present war.

She is survived by two sons, Messrs. T. B. Somerville, Wairoa, and C. Somerville, Haumoana, and two daughters, Mesdames F. Butcher, Haumoana, and George Butcher, Havelock North.
