Rugby Championships To Start HARRIER SEASON The Wellington Rugby Union will set its championship competitions going this afternoon, when the following senior matches will be played : — Senior A, First Division.—St. Patrick’s College Old Boys v. Oriental, at Athletic Park, 1.30 p.m.; Athletic v. Air Force, at Athletic Park, 3 p..m.; Hutt v. University, at Hutt, 3 p.m.; Petone v. Wellington, at Petone, 3 - p.m.; Marist Brothers’ Old Boys v. Eastbourne, at Eastbourne, 3 p.m.; Poueke v. 'Wellington College Old Boye, at Anderson Park, 3 p.m. Senior A, Second Division—Athletic v. Hutt Army, at Hutt; Pirates v. Miramar, at Polo Ground ; Air Force v. Wellington, at Kilbirnie; Onslow v. Training College, at Nairnville Park. All matches will start at 3 o’clock. Rugby League. The Wellington Rugby League will play the following senior practice games today:—Miramar v. St. George, at Newtown Park, 2ip.m. ;_.-Newtown v. Central, Newtown Park, 3.15 p.m. Association Football. Marist senior B; Onslow fourth grade y. Marist fourth grade; Onslow sixth grade will have a trial game. Lower grades commence at 1 p.m.; senior at 2.30 p.m., at Nairnville Park. . Harriers. The harrier season in Wellington will be opened at Lyall Bay this afternoon. The mayor of Wellington, Mr. Hislop, will declare the season open, and it is expected that more than 200 runners will take part in the opening run of the season. Bowls. The Wellington Bowling Centre will conduct a patriotic gala on the Wellington club's green today. There will be competitions for drawing, driving and trailing, a game between Scots and English. and sideshows for the entertainment of bowlers and their friends. Women’s Hockey. Technical Old Girls and College Old Girls will practice at Newtown Park at o p.m. today. , . Basketball. The Wellington Basketball Association will hold a tournament at Mt. Cook School at 1 p.m. today.
