MERCANTILE LEAGUE
Working Men’s Club Win A Grade The Wellington. Mercantile Cricket League's championship competitions were concluded on Saturday. The only grade not previously completed was the A grade, in which ’Working Men’s Club and Amalgamated Bricks were level. Amalgamated Bricks were unexpectedly beaten by Hannahs, Working Men’s Club thus carrying off the championship for the second year in succession. The various grade winners were:—A grade, Working Men's Club; B grade, Prestige Hosiery ; C grade, Customs Department; D grade, Insurance; E grade, Thompson Bros.; F grade, Wellington T( Next Saturday the Mercantile League representatives will play Kilbimie. .There will also be a challenge match between the D grade minor and major championship winners, Self Help anl Insurance. Saturday’s results were:-— Working Men's Club, 160 for seven declared (Foley 02 not out, Paton 23 Ruseoe 20), beat James Smith, L>- <Lusl <-, Noot 30, White 21; Smith two for 20, Sandholm two for 44). Hannahs, 192 (S. Gridley 04. Love 31. Oliver 28: Handscorab four for 30, de Clifford three for 49, Henderson two for 25) beat Amalgamated Bricks. 168 (R. Liddicoat GO. Handscomb 32, Henderson 34; Ralt seven for 02, Oliver three for 33 Smltli and Smith, 149 (Lawton 32 Dobbs 29, Bennett 24; Davies two for 11, bhlllsou two for 23) bea( Woolworths 109 (Goodson 40, Shlllson 20; Jeffrey four for six; Roberts three for 36, Lawton two for 30). Intergrade Games. B Grade, 218 for six declared (Vause 07 not out, Ramsay 53, Scott 29, O'Connor 22 not out; Guinlven three for 40) drew with C Grade, 149 for six (Guinlven 51, Graham 37 not out; Oliver five for 20). E and F Grade, 203 (11. Lambert 60 Gilbert 35, Norris 33; Payne four for 4<) beat D Grade. 150 (Vaughan 35; Norrie three for 17. Lambert throe for 29. Baillie three for 34). General Motors, 283 (Kelly 103, Matts 97 Hedge 30: Lucas three for 16) beat Central, 253 (Brooks 103, Lucas 40, C. Cooper 40; Watts three for 47).
