Champion Team Beats The Rest MARGIN OF 91 RUNS Winners of the Wellington Cricket Association’s senior championship, Kilbirnie team, beat , a team representing the other senior clubs in a one-day match at the Basin Reserve on Saturday by; Vl runs. , , . . Kilbirnie opened the batting at 11 am. and the last wicket of the match fell at 6.10 p.m., when, after a 20-minute partnership with Buchan, Burnette was caught by Wrigley. Though their fielding was good there was little variety in the bowling for the Rest and the medium-paced spin balls proved to the liking of Wrigley and Burton who, as the opening partnership, put on 90 runs. W J IS . OI ? opened his innings slowly, but his total of 67 included six boundaries and a six into the grandstand enclosure. Parry and Pike gave good batting displays to reach 24 and 23, not out, respectively. Effective bowling by Ashenden and D Wilson restricted 1 the combined team’s attempt to score rapidly when they went in to bat at 4 p.m. Seven wickets fell to Ashenden iu six consecutive overs.
