(By Telegraph—Press As<su.—Copyright.) (Received March 7, 11.25 p.m.) MELBOURNE, March 7. The trainer of Hashing Cavalier, J. McCurley, and the jockey, J. Coutts, have lodged appeals against (he 12 months’ disqualification imposed yesterday. Ajax was sold at auction for (>5OO guineas today. Bidding began at 5000. The neW owner, Mr. IV. J. Smith, of St. Aubin's stud, announced that the horse would remain in Australia, Mr. Smith owns Beau Pere. Lanarus, engaged in the Australian Cup, was sold fo Mr. L. Skinner, South Australia, for 130 guineas.
