TUDOR THEATRE
The starring combination of the hilarious “He Stayed for Breakfast,” which has been transferred to the Tudor Theatre, comprises Loretta Young, who reached a new fame with her comedy role in “The Doctor Takes a Wife,” and Melvyn Douglas, who already possesses a distinguished record as one of Hollywood’s most gifted farceurs. One of the season’s most delightful love-on-the-run comedies, “He Stayed For Breakfast,” has a supporting cast which includes Alan Marshal, Eugene Pailette, and Una O’Connor. Set in a Paris background, the story hilariously describes the romance of a politically-conscious cafe waiter and the estranged wife of a pompous banker. Douglas, in the former role, is a fugitive from the law for having taken a pot-shot at the financier; Miss Young connives at his escape and, in the end, takes a shot at the financier herself.
“Whispering Enemies,” in which the principol role is played convincingly by Jack Holt, is the associate attraction.
