ENEMY ALIENS
General Internment Urged
Dominion Special Service. HASTINGS, March 6.
“This meeting expresses its grave concern at the present position regarding enemy aliens, and again urges that Immediate steps be taken with a view to general internment,” reads a resolution adopted at the monthly meeting of the executive of the Hastings Returned Soldiers’ Association. A remit on the subject will be forwarded., for consideration at the forthcoming Dominion conference.
Reference to the question was made by the president of the Hastings Returned Soldiers’ Association, Mr. P. J. Priest, at a complimentpry afternoon tea for soldiers on leave. He contended that one of the big jobs that should be tackled by people in New Zealand was that of the aliens in our midst. “It is high time that we did battle with this question,’ lie said.
